Albert Sandoval - Strength Coach
Albert grew up in Pueblo, Colorado and graduated
from Colorado State University-Pueblo with a Bachelors degree in Exercise Science with a minor in Sociology and Coaching.
Albert finished his playing career at Baton Rouge Community College for one year, under the direction of Coach Rivera, and
played for two years at Colorado State University-Pueblo. Albert worked at MBS Sports Performance as a Sports Performance
Coach for six (6) months before being hired by the Colorado Rockies as a Strength Coach. Albert worked his first season
for the Colorado Rockies Organization with the Rookie Ball affiliate Casper Ghosts. Albert continues to work for the
Colorado Rockies Organization and trains athletes in Denver, Colorado during the off-season. Albert is also CPR and
First Aid Certified.
Rafael Belliard
Belliard played from
1984 to 1990 with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He won one a Division title with the Pirates. He then signed a free
agent contract and played with the Atlanta Braves from 1991 to 1998. With the Braves he helped win 7 Division titles
with 4 appearances in the World Series. He won one World Series title in 1995. Over his career he played in 897
games, 5544.2 innings at shortstop with only 76 errors; at second base, in 171 games, 928.1 innings and 3 errors, and at third
base be played 11 games 24.2 innings and had no errors. He was the fielding percentage leader in 1988 with 117 games
in 811 innings played in and only 9 errors with a fielding percentage of .977. In 2000 he returned to the Braves organization
to work with the minor leaguers as their infield roving instructor.
Chris Adams-Texas
Rangers
After playing college baseball
at Missouri Southern University (All American HM-Infield), Adams was a Head High School Baseball Coach in Illinois and Missouri
for 17 years. He also spent 11 seasons working at Mickey Owen baseball school as an instructor, the last 5 of those seasons
as Head Instructor/Asst. Director. He also worked several winters with Mickey Owen Baseball School with their Winter School
in Arizona. The last 11 years, Adams has been an associate scout for the Texas Rangers, helping cover Missouri, Arkansas and
Kansas. Other highlights in his career include a 2 year stint as a coach for the USA Junior Baseball trials. In 1994, Adams
traveled to Indonesia as an instructor for the Reebok Baseball School. During his career, Adams has been
a clinician for several player/coaches clinic in many states in the Midwest. Coach Adams has a Biology degree from Missouri Southern University and a Masters
degree from the University of Missouri. He is married to Tami (Real Estate Broker) and has 2 daughters, Mallori (21) and Alexandra
(19). Hobbies include backpacking, hiking, camping.
Jon Shehan- Head Coach at Millersville University.
He
was a catcher in the Atlanta Braves minor league system.
He has played two years in the Braves organization. He signed as a free agent with
the Braves after a four year career at Millersville University in Pennsylvania. There he hit .397 his senior year, leading
Division I and Division II in doubles with 23 in only 37 games. He has played the last two seasons with the Gulf Coast Braves,
Rome Braves and Danville Braves. He is currently working to complete his Bachelor of Science in Education at Millersville
University and would like to pursue a Master’s Degree in Sport Management in the near future.
Chris Rateike
Coach Rateike played collegiate level baseball at Indian Hills Community College
and followed that with a two-year career with Arkansas Tech University. He was previously the pitching coach and recruiting
coordinator at Indian Hills Community College in Centerville, IA. He is currently a Head Coach at Hill Community College in
Hillsboro, TX.
Bryan Shepherd
Bryan
Shepherd begins his seventh season as Head Baseball Coach at NJC. In his first six seasons, the Plainsmen went 161-116,
including a school record for wins with 38, an Empire Conference Championship, a school record win streak of 14 and a #14
national ranking.
Shepherd comes to NJC from Oklahoma, where he spent six years as an assistant coach at Oklahoma
Christian University and one season at National Runner-Up Oklahoma City University as a pitching coach. He also spent
two summers as head coach of teh Oklahmoa City Sox, a summer team in the Red River Collegiate Wood Bat League. The Sox
findished in 11th place both summers at the NBC World Series in Wichita, Kansas.
The summer prior to joining the
Plainsmen, Shepherd was the pitching coach for the Canton Coyotes, an independent professional team in the Frontier League.
Coach Shepherd played his college ball at Seward County Community College and for the Liberal Bee-Jays (summer), before
a shoulder injury ended his career. Oringally from Rapid City, South Dakota, he, his wife Neala, and daughter Camden
now reside in Sterling.
